i understand that i'm just passing along linky goodness from the obscurestore, but this one is too perfect. our world is The Onion.

easy, easy living around the casa these days. spending time listening to music.
a friend busted out the new beck record to me. i'm not so into the becks, but its pretty listenable. stazz and i are sitting around trying to figure out the parts that sound so familiar.
picked up the new fsol disc. have not heard it yet, but the booklet looks good and baked.
also grabbed boris' "absolutego", which, i believe is there only domestic release.
that stuff and a bunch of mp3's from my crew.

recently started reading my new camden joy collection i got from tni books, see side bar to the left. here is a passage:
- To you - the graduating class - you have not earned these diplomas, but here they are, come get them, but take with you too this warning: do not do as we have done. Take the reins gently; reward only the worthy; please stop scaring me; and forgive us everything! Put a man on Mars - two men! A lesbian (see what i care). Just leave us before our tvs.... Lace up your loose-laced Nikes and take off your Walkmans and those hooded jackets and hooded sweatshirts and hoods and scarves and pullover hooded sweaters and Walkmans and participate in the world and take care of us aged and infirm by taking off your loose-laced, hooded things and showing your face and coming and getting your diplomas and participating and not scaring me in this world anymore with hoods and loose-laced Nikes.
bust. please note, dice not included.

it's time to do laundry.
so there i was, up at launderland, the neighborhood laudramat. i'm running out of clothing to wear, as it is laundry time, so i'm wearing some old khaki shorts, blown out in the ass, of course, and my shirt that i got from the baffler with an illustration, representing Amway, of a dude on a horse except that the horse is made up of other people, on the back and "the baffler" on the front. i also have on sandals and my glasses.
clothes are drying and i am standing/leaning against my rolling basket with my arms and chin resting on the tall bar that is attached to the basket used to hang clothes. i'm lazily staring at the dryer as it spins:
me: " * "
sassy black lady in lakers visor walking by: "nice boxers."

slow, slow, my chit is slow.
the goddamn head-cold that got rollin' in s.f. is, hopefully, starting to ease back. but other than this, not a great deal of excitement around here.
oh, here's a nifty lil' story about the wonder of the internet.
last night i was at jennifer's and was looking at the inter-web, of course, and happened upon ebay motors. i went to ebay motors because recently i have fallen in love with an old lambo, the espada. i was looking, in vain, for some up for auction, when i decided to check on bmw 2002's (the model, not the year).
earlier in the morning, on a local radio show, "the motor man", a caller had asked if his old 2002 was worth anything if he fixed it up a bit. the motor man said that, yes, they are collectable little cars and that if money wasn't an issue he'd fix it up.
now, in my mind, THE bmw 2002 is one that a friend of mine owned in louisville. i reckon i last saw john in 1992 or so, buut he still had the car then. it was a gold/brown, 2002tii, the tii bit being the most sporty version of the model. he had gotten this car off someone who had loved it and had written every little thing down about the car; a notebook full of details and thoughts about its behavior, a second-hand car buyers dream.
it was a fantastic car, but being older needed some tlc every now and then. it was very quick, had seemingly lots of power and was snappy in the turns. it also had lots of room on the inside and i remember being struck by the visibility that all that glass afforded.
so, since i had heard bmw's mentioned on the radio, i looked 'em up on ebay.
welp, i'll give you one guess as to what car was listed first in my search results:
yup, john's car that i remember from louisville, now in knoxville.
buy it.

whoops, how could i forget:
"original pirate material" by The Streets. our crew over in london had been listening to this thing all summer long. white boy from brixton, reading/rapping over pretty good beats. if yer an anglophile at all, you'd probably get a kick out of trying to decode all the tea-bag slang.
yer shit out of luck though, amazon has it as an import for $32! jesus.
kinda nice to find out that one can still go abroad and find something, anything that isn't the exact same price as back home.
perlita found some campers in mallorca for half of what they wanted at hollywood and highland, so there's that too.
new song for ye.

it wasn't the trip to australia, where i was sitting on top of my suitcase because the 50 or so albums i had bought were keeping it from closing properly, but i did manage to buy a few goodies between the trips to europe and s.f.

back from europe. we've been back since sunday night actually, but i've been in a kind of fog that is not just a result of ye olde jet-lag. it was pretty much living someone else's life for a month and then, boom, there you are, waking up in yer own bed at 4:30 in the morning.
so its been a few days of strange sleep, being really tired at five in the afternoon and lots of wondering about what happens next.
one answer to that is to go to san francisco this weekend with my roommate to see some big ass bike race.
