Bike sites

Spent more time that I should have looking at a few bike sites that I was just hipped to. One of them is Loud Bike which is an enthusiasts page about his Ducati's. The emphasis seems to be on track day equipment and how. The dude has fixed up, and mangled a few bikes, with no end in site. Some good writing and great pics of beautiful biking gloriousness.

There is also Twisting Asphalt, a local dude what rides a Duke and writes about it.

Three weeks

Movies have been watched:
    Zatoichi
    Wicker Man
    The Adventures of Baron Munchausen
    Sonatine
    Interiors

With Akira and Ghost in the Shell "on the way". There has been no work on the XT, but there has been some low level cleanup in the garage that leaks and leaked during the heavy winter rains. There has been a house cleaning, foreign friends visiting, a submersion into two jobs and an overnight camping trip up in the Santa Monica mountains. There has been two "major" purchases so far; a new land-line phone (pleasantly cheap) and a low-budg scanner (affordable and basic) to help with one of the jobs. There has also been a training manual purchased, but it does not apply to either of these two items or the movies.

As per normal for this time of year I find myself desiring to have total control of my world and so have found myself reading nerd sites like this.

Mysterious Fan Marks Poe's Birthday

The mystery man was dressed for the cold rather than tradition, and some spectators were not quite as respectful as in years past. But for the 56th year, a man stole into a locked graveyard early on Edgar Allan Poe's birthday and placed three roses and a half-empty bottle of cognac on the writer's grave.

Stop Motion Study No. 15 (out of 20) , Series 3.15 by David Crawford

Recommended

The Wicker Man (1973).

Also, seeing as how I'm probably one of the last to see this film, I found Nuada, among many other listings.

Nicey nice

Now THAT'S what I like to see. Over at BoingBoing.net Mark has put in a plug for two LA artists, and aquaintances of mine, Miles Thompson and Andrew Brandou. I met Miles through J. and he knows pretty much everyone (and then some) within the world that contains the day-job. The same goes for Andrew who I met long ago when I first got a job similar to the one that is now the day-job. In fact, he and P where the ones who hired me.

Wikipedia

Falling raindrops are often described as "tear-shaped", round at the bottom and narrowing towards the top, but this is incorrect (only drops of water dripping from some sources are tear-shaped at the moment of formation). Small raindrops are nearly spherical. Larger ones become increasingly flattened, like hamburger buns; very large ones are shaped like parachutes.

Several cultures have developed means of dealing with rain and have developed numerous protection devices such as umbrellas and raincoats. Many people also prefer to stay inside on rainy days, especially in tropical climates where rain is usually accompanied by thunderstorms.

Head cold rising

Either I never shook the old one, or some joker sneezed at my frail ass on the flight home, either way, its bed time again with a head cold. F.

At the same time I am very much heavy rotating to the Lucifer Rising s/t.

Kentucky Rain

Home again and, after two days that were considered beautiful and a respite by the locs, the winter rains have begun again this morning. It is grey and grim outside as the sun tries to lighten things up; there are a bunch of oranges on the tree outside my office window.
On Wednesday afternoon I casually dumped the contents of my travel bags onto the living room floor for sorting and most of it still remains where it first landed. Today will be the first day back at the 9-5(ish) so the surreality of being back will continue.

Coffee and Bohren's "Midnight Radio", cd 2, track 6.
